This fight is not over
America has turned a dark corner following today’s passage of the so called health care reform that has just been rammed down our throats. The majority in Congress have ignored the clear will of the people in passing legislation that is neither reform or good for the Nation’s health care system. The system needs reform. We and many others have proposed ideas that would lower the cost of health insurance and make it more accessible to most Americans. (You can read these ideas here.) This Bill does neither.
These are the times when it is difficult to maintain a positive perspective on the future when all we thought America stood for is being eroded before our eyes. We cannot afford to give up. Let the passage of this Bill cement your resolve to do everything it takes to remove the majority of those who voted for this terrible legislation. It is a long road we must travel between now and November with our best hope to send the message to the spineless representatives that their days in office are numbered.
America was built by Patriots who were willing to risk their lives and fortunes to build a Nation that would serve as a beacon of good in the world. The actions and sacrifices of these great men gave us the United States of America. Our Country has withstood every threat, both foreign and domestic for over 230 years by our citizens coming together in every crisis we have faced. It is time for us to stand once again for the principles our Founding Fathers laid out in our Constitution.
Our current troubles did not happen overnight. There has been a steady and carefully orchestrated movement over many decades by these so called “Progressives” to strip the power away from the people and give government and themselves power to control. We have been busy providing for the lives of our families and failed to see the magnitude of the cage being slowly built around our freedoms. Make no mistake, the people behind this believe that they know what is best for the “little people” of America. We are nothing more than pawns in their game of power.
There are two choices that each of us can make. We can surrender our liberty to the tyrants promising to take care of our needs or we can reclaim the greatness that founded our Nation and seize control of our government at the ballot box. Which do you choose? As disenfranchised as you may feel, remember that it is we the voters who decide who represents us. The system has made it difficult to unseat incumbent politicians but not impossible.
If you choose to sit on the sidelines complaining that someone needs to do something, then you are part of the problem. It is no longer acceptable to make excuses that you are too busy or too tired to get involved. The choice is between “their way” or the “American way”. Times require the same resolve our Founding Fathers showed as they risked everything to save us from the tyranny of an oppressive government.
Here are a few things to start with:
- Vote
- Get everyone you know to vote
- Attend meetings of your local political party
- Support candidates and campaigns that will fight for Constitutional values
- Walk your neighborhood and speak to your neighbors about what is at stake
- Stay informed and educated on the issues of the day
- Be willing to join in civil protest
- Lose the excuses to stay on the sidelines
I know that Patriotism is alive and well in America. We allowed this to happen through our inaction, making it as much our fault as the people we keep sending back into office. Let us stay awake and motivated so our children and grandchildren may know the same great and wonderful America that we were blessed to have grown up in.
The choice is ours my friends. Ask yourself, “What am I going to do about it”?
