Can Conservatives Join as One Voice?
The harsh reality is that Harry Reid will be tough to beat. With over 9 million dollars in his war chest this early in the election cycle he has a good head start on our opposition. This being said, he still sits with about 35% popularity rating in Nevada. This is something we need to capitalize by getting behind a strong candidate early and giving them our full support.
The Republican Party has, to a degree, been fractured by groups focused heavily on single issues, leaving us a primary process that has been unable to get behind a single strong candidate who can appeal to the voters identifying themselves as moderate or independent. I understand that statements like this will anger many of you who understandably feel passionate about these issues. We need to understand that as long as we continue down this path, we lose more and more political capital in each election cycle with the reality being that we lose everything if we do not win elections.
The Senate is now one vote short of giving the Democrats free reign in pushing their liberal agenda which will continue to erode the traditional values and civil liberties we once held as our birthright. The Constitution will become less relevant as liberal judges are appointed who have been hand picked for their belief that the document that has made this country great is subject to “change” to meet the modern progressive agenda of eliminating the rights our Founding Fathers believed were critical in keeping America free.
Unless we develop a cohesive platform that will return a balance of power to government, all the issues we as conservatives believe in will be rendered meaningless. The more we allow ourselves to be divided, the stronger the far left will become and we will soon wake up to a world that we don’t want and it will be our fault! It is our choice.
Our best hope lies in getting behind a platform of fiscal responsibility which appeals to conservatives, independents and even moderate Democrats. We may feel that we are being forced to make comprises but if we fail to regain a meaningful position in Washington, these values may be lost forever.
I am only asking you to think about this. We are at a crossroad as a nation and only by looking at the big picture, will we be successful. Will we continue to hand our power over to the far left at both the National and State level or will we join together as one large voice and rebuild the foundation of our great country? I pray we will.
