Why I Love Sharron Angle!

September 1st, 2010

While standing in line at a Southwest gate in Reno to board a plane to Las Vegas today to do a series of media appearances, I noticed a man wearing a Sharron Angle 2010 sticker on his jacket. I quickly realized that it was Ted Angle, Sharron’s husband and standing right next to him is the next Senator from the great State of Nevada!

I have been in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California in the last several weeks organizing some of our other campaigns and people are always curious about Sharron. ”Is she that lady who said that people should take chickens to their doctor?” No that was Sue Lowden. “I heard that she is crazy” no that’s what the liberal media portrays and Harry has spent millions of dollars trying to make people believe.

The Western Representation PAC endorsed Angle because after hours of listening to her and following her career as native Nevadans, we know that Sharron Angle is intelligent, principled, and down to earth. I wonder the last time  that Harry Reid (if ever) saw the inside of a Southwest Airlines 737 or sat in coach.

Sharron Angle understands the complex language of legislation. She could teach classes on parliamentary procedure. More importantly, Sharron Angle is one of us, WE THE PEOPLE! She isn’t flying around the state in private jets or riding in limos. No, Sharron is happy getting around like the rest of us.

I’m tired of these slick talking politicians who from their luxury suits at the Ritz Carlton (here’s looking at you Harry) pretend to be “regular folks”. Washington is full of snake oil salesman posing as polished politicians.

We need people who aren’t afraid to think for themselves or tell the truth even when it hurts. Harry Reid wants you to believe that Social Security is just fine. Sharron Angle has the courage to tell people that the system faces bankruptcy and needs to be fixed. You can’t address the problem of Social Security if you don’t have the courage to admit there is a problem.

As an independent expenditure PAC, campaign finance laws prevented me from speaking to Sharron and Ted about the campaign. I told them that I am extremely proud of what they are doing and that I can’t wait to see them after she wins in November.

Western Representation PAC endorses Sharron Angle for US Senate

May 9th, 2010

Over the last several months we have watched and interviewed every major candidate running to defeat Harry Reid in November’s Nevada Senate election. We have looked hard at each candidate’s current platform as well as their past record. We find things we like about other candidates but our search keeps leading us to the same name as the best candidate to represent the people of Nevada: Sharron Angle.

A recent poll conducted by Anger is Brewing shows that the grassroots are clearly on the side of Angle, she keeps winning straw poll after straw poll conducted at candidate forums, events, and by conservative organizations. The Western Representation PAC is proud to join with other Nevada organizations who have endorsed Sharron Angle including: Nevada Republican Assembly, Nevada Homeschool Network, Nevada Concerned Citizens, the Las Vegas Tribune, KLAV Radio’s Leon Catlett.

In addition many national conservative leaders and organizations have endorsed Sharron Angle including the Tea Party Express, Gun Owners of America, Conservative Radio Host Mark Levin, Conservative Icon Phyllis Schlafly, “Joe The plumber”, Pat Boone, Citizens United and many more.

Sharron served four terms in the Nevada Legislature where she led the fight to keep taxes low and limit the expansion of government programs. Looking back it becomes clear that if more of our State representatives would have led with the same responsible ethics, Nevada would not be faced with a $3.5 billion dollar budget deficit next year.

During the 2003 legislative while she served as minority whip of the State Assembly, Sharron blocked then Governor Kenny Guinn from nullifying the State Constitutional requirement of a 2/3 vote to raise taxes. In a fight that took some of her own financial resources, she successfully sued the Governor, all the way to the United States Supreme Court, keeping the majority vote requirement and the will of the people intact. For her tenacity in fighting for what is right, Sharron was awarded the “Ronald Reagan Freedom Medallion” from the Claremont Institute in 2004. It should be noted that the Governor was also a Republican, proving that Sharron is not above holding members of her own party accountable to their principles and to the people.

“I have been involved in political campaigns for many years and I have never met a politician with more integrity and desire to represent her constituents than Sharron Angle”, said Roger Stockton, Western Representation PAC Treasurer. “Although I did not know her personally until recently, Sharron Angle was always the name that stood out in fighting the corrupt political machines of Nevada”.

Our Nation is in crisis and we need leaders who will stand up to the special interest groups and powerful political machines to fight for “We the People”.  Sharron Angle has proven that her vote cannot be purchased, leaving us no question that she will fight for us in Washington DC. Her campaign slogan says it best; “Read my record, not my lips”. We encourage every Nevadan to take a good look at Sharron’s record for yourself and help us replace Harry Reid with a true Conservative who places her principles, our Constitution and the people before politics.

Harry’s bus tour

April 8th, 2010

To create the appearance that he is connecting with “real” Nevadans, Harry Reid launched a bus tour through rural Nevada this week. The tour was a closely guarded secret outside of Democrat Party organizations until the morning the tour through Northern Nevada began. The stops were carefully timed to make sure that any protests would be small and unorganized. One small protest was organized at his Reno stop but several union thugs traveling with the Reid tour placed themselves between the protesters and Reid’s supporters and continuously shouted “Harry, Harry, Harry” to drown out the voices of those in opposition.

Reid arrived at a little coffee shop in downtown Carson City about 30 minutes late of schedule. He was greeted by a small group outside that included a little girl holding a sign reading “Nevada loves Harry” in perfect postition for the camera crew following the Senator to film this “touching moment”.

I could not hear what he said but I am sure it had something to do with “Don’t worry about the future, we know what you need and will make all your decisions for you”. Reid has become a champion of exploiting children for his own political gain.

Once inside, there was a coincidentally open chair in the crowded room right in front of an elderly gentleman who had a few questions for Harry. After thanking Harry for all the great work he is doing, the man wanted to know, “what’s next for this Congress”? In another touching moment of “true concern” recorded by his video team, Reid stated that there were three things left for the current session of Congress to accomplish; Jobs, Immigration and the Environment. He was quick to add that Republicans have not been working with him to achieve his goals. He left out the fact that he was the one who locked Republicans out of the secret meetings that drafted the takeover of healthcare.

He responded to a total of five comments/ questions from the audience. Reid’s quick answers made it obvious that this was not a town hall forum and that the questions had been pre-selected by Reid’s campaign staff.

The first person questioned when the war in Iraq would end. In classic Reid style, he stated that “This was a war of choice, not a war of necessity”. He blamed the Bush administration for using false intelligence as an excuse to overthrow an admittedly bad person in Saddam Hussein. Leaving out the part that he voted for the war, he said he always supported the troops but was against the war. He also neglected to admit that he had gone on the national media circuit to tell our soldiers that the “war was lost” when the successful troop surge began.

Comment number two began with a heartfelt thanks for “giving all Americans health care”. The lady recited that she was fearful that her pre-existing health conditions would preclude her from receiving insurance but that thanks to Reid’s great work, all was well now. In a bit of a slip, Harry’s answer started a little before she had finished her question. He talked about the “hard fight” and how Republicans did all they could to prevent her from receiving the care she needed. He then told the story a young college student from Searchlight who lost his parent’s health insurance when he turned 23,  just months before he was diagnosed with cancer. He then added how he arranged for a doctor who was a personal friend to provide the young man’s treatment free of charge.

The next question came from a young woman from Germany who told Reid that she has been in this country illegally for many years and feared she could be deported. She told him that we need immigration reform so she and others like her will be able to stay in America. He began his answer with “I am well aware of this situation. The Rush Limbaugh’s of the world say deport them all. I say we have to put them on a path of legalization”.  It struck me as interesting that someone in this country illegally would feel at ease telling this to the Senate Majority Leader of the United States who was surrounded by law enforcement and Secret Service agents.

Reid was then praised for his work in fighting for a high speed rail system between Las Vegas and Southern California. The spontaneity of the question was again suspicious when he responded that “Carol would like to know what we are doing to build a high speed rail between Las Vegas and California”. He went on to say that the project would create thousands upon thousands of jobs, all while reducing carbon emissions. He didn’t mention that several engineers who have reviewed the project say that the project is doomed to fail because high speed trains will not be able to run over the mountain passes between the two locations.

Although I tried to remain objective during the dialog, it was impossible to miss that this was nothing more than a staged campaign tour. The questions did not come from randomly picking people raising their hands. Harry just seemed to “know” who had the important questions to ask. The whole event, in my opinion, was a pathetic example of what is wrong with our political process where a representative of the people is allowed to manipulate the questions so to avoid taking on any controversial or dissenting opinion.

We are fighting hard to see that the “Real Harry Reid” is exposed to the voters of Nevada. He can hide behind his blind supporters all he wants but he cannot hide from the truth that he and the Statist movement he is leading with Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama is destroying the freedoms on which America was founded.

With a corrupt establishment and $25 million dollars to spend, it would be foolish to think there is no chance Harry Reid can win reelection. Help us with a contribution of $10, $25 or more so we can get the message out to the voters that Harry does not represent Nevadans. His bosses are the special interests and big labor unions who keep him sheltered from dealing with the truth.

Does it really take money to win an election? Yes.

March 22nd, 2010

The reality of modern politics is that it takes money to win. The coalition we have built is motivated and determined to make a difference in the November Election but without financial support we will not have the impact needed to unseat the well funded politicians destroying America.

We hear time and time again each time we ask for support that; “It doesn’t take money, it just takes votes” or “Money is what caused this problem in the first place”. While votes are the most important ingredient to winning elections, they do not come without a cost. Why do you think that groups like MoveOn.org and the teacher’s union spend hundreds of millions each election cycle to support their puppets? It is to win votes!

The campaign groups on Facebook and Myspace are great places to voice your opinion and play a role in politics but those of us participating already know how we are voting. The reason we are there is because we know what is going on in government and want to stop it. There are millions of voters who are not following the events of the day. These are the people who are watching reality TV instead of the news. Their exposure to the issues of the day is through 30 second commercials designed to deceive them.

Without your financial support, these campaigns will never reach their full potential to turn elections in places that would not have been imaginable before Scott Brown’s historic win in Massachusetts. You may think that someone else should take care of the bills because you work hard for your money that the government takes to much of anyway. It is your right to contribute only if you want and we will never pressure anyone to give more than they can.

We are fighting a very wealthy adversary in the special interest groups of the left. You have one vote to cast. As long as we do not fight back, the left will be busy courting the masses with their feel good message of hope, disguising their real motive of Socialism. Pooling our resources together in campaigns like this is our best hope of spreading OUR message to those who are not paying attention. Without this we will continue them to spread the lies of modern Liberalism and they will continue to control the debate.

Here is a list of where your contributions make a difference:

  1. Direct support to Conservative candidates who have pledged to fight for fiscal responsibility from government and protect our civil liberties guaranteed in the Constitution.
  2. Ad campaigns against sitting politicians who have abandoned the principles of freedom and are spending our children into financial slavery. We can focus on pointing out the corruption of politicians like Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Barney Frank, Blanche Lincoln and others to allow the candidates we are supporting to keep on their message as Scott Brown did in his incredible victory.
  3. Get out the vote. One of the problems we have had in the past is that too many people have become disillusioned with the political process and simply do not vote. We are developing training materials for precinct organization to assure that our message is heard.
  4. Virtual phone bank. Prior to November, we will have a virtual phone bank setup to allow our supporters to phone voters in districts where the race is close to encourage them to vote. Hundreds of our supporters signed up to do just this for Scott Brown and we see the impact it had.

We understand that the current economy does not leave much for political contributions for many of us. Your family must come first but donations of  $10, $25, $50 add up quickly.Your support will allow us to continue this fight and allow “We the People” to take our country back from the well funded special interests and corrupt politicians ruining our future.

Please consider a contribution if you are able

This fight is not over

March 21st, 2010

America has turned a dark corner following today’s passage of the so called health care reform that has just been rammed down our throats. The majority in Congress have ignored the clear will of the people in passing legislation that is neither reform or good for the Nation’s health care system. The system needs reform. We and many others have proposed ideas that would lower the cost of health insurance and make it more accessible to most Americans. (You can read these ideas here.) This Bill does neither.

These are the times when it is difficult to maintain a positive perspective on the future when all we thought America stood for is being eroded before our eyes. We cannot afford to give up. Let the passage of this Bill cement your resolve to do everything it takes to remove the majority of those who voted for this terrible legislation. It is a long road we must travel between now and November with our best hope to send the message to the spineless representatives that their days in office are numbered.

America was built by Patriots who were willing to risk their lives and fortunes to build a Nation that would serve as a beacon of good in the world. The actions and sacrifices of these great men gave us the United States of America. Our Country has withstood every threat, both foreign and domestic for over 230 years by our citizens coming together in every crisis we have faced. It is time for us to stand once again for the principles our Founding Fathers laid out in our Constitution.

Our current troubles did not happen overnight. There has been a steady and carefully orchestrated movement over many decades by these so called “Progressives” to strip the power away from the people and give government and themselves power to control. We have been busy providing for the lives of our families and failed to see the magnitude of the cage being slowly built around our freedoms. Make no mistake, the people behind this believe that they know what is best for the “little people” of America. We are nothing more than pawns in their game of power.

There are two choices that each of us can make. We can surrender our liberty to the tyrants promising to take care of our needs or we can reclaim the greatness that founded our Nation and seize control of our government at the ballot box. Which do you choose? As disenfranchised as you may feel, remember that it is we the voters who decide who represents us. The system has made it difficult to unseat incumbent politicians but not impossible.

If you choose to sit on the sidelines complaining that someone needs to do something, then you are part of the problem. It is no longer acceptable to make excuses that you are too busy or too tired to get involved. The choice is between “their way” or the “American way”. Times require the same resolve our Founding Fathers showed as they risked everything to save us from the tyranny of an oppressive government.

Here are a few things to start with:

  1. Vote
  2. Get everyone you know to vote
  3. Attend meetings of your local political party
  4. Support candidates and campaigns that will fight for Constitutional values
  5. Walk your neighborhood and speak to your neighbors about what is at stake
  6. Stay informed and educated on the issues of the day
  7. Be willing to join in civil protest
  8. Lose the excuses to stay on the sidelines

I know that Patriotism is alive and well in America. We allowed this to happen through our inaction, making it as much our fault as the people we keep sending back into office. Let us stay awake and motivated so our children and grandchildren may know the same great and wonderful America that we were blessed to have grown up in.

The choice is ours my friends. Ask yourself, “What am I going to do about it”?

Consider a donation to spread the message that America is not dead!

Harry’s Facebook fans don’t seem to like him much

January 20th, 2010

Harry Reid has a fan page on Facebook. Despite his running adds to add more fans, he lags well behind the ‘Campaign Against Harry Reid’ by several thousand supporters.

A close look at the comments by his “fans” reveals that many who participate are anything but his supporters. A quick review of comments shows that half of his fans actually signed up to have a forum to speak out against him.

Here are some of the comments he receives on his “fan” page.

“he has done such a great job is time to give him a nice vacation send him to searchligh for a permanet vacation ANYONE BUT REID IN 2010″
“Nevadans do what’s right…time for Reid to go”
“Harry Reid has been devoted to no one but himself. The same can be said for nearly all of our elected officials. How can you trust a politician that says Federal Income Tax is voluntary and that you will not go to jaill if you don’t pay your taxes. Google Harry Reid voluntary tax.”
“You need to step down. You are NOT good for Nevada or this country. Our founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves. Prepare to get fired in November. Nothing personal…but you forgot who you work for.”
“Take your socialist agenda and leave this country!”
“Thanks for spending all this money you old folks don’t have and making me pay the bill.”
“How much is your health care going to be outa pocket for you Harry?????”

Big Pharma launches new Harry Reid support ads

January 15th, 2010

Harry Reid claims that his healthcare Bill will reduce cost to Americans. We have to ask ourselves if this is a cost cutting plan, (IE: smaller payments for medications), why is the largest association of pharmaceutical manufactures spending over $150 million to promote it? Ads have started airing in Nevada encouraging voters to support Reid’s plan telling us that it is good for Nevada. The ads are sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

It just so happens that big pharma is one of the biggest beneficiaries of Reid’s Bill. Under his plan, drug manufactures will be able to charge 100% of full manufacture’s price (not cost) to Medicaid compared to around 70% under current law.

The not so subtle wording in the Bill reads:

PART V—MEDICAID PRESCRIPTION DRUG COVERAGE

Increase the Brand-Name Drug Rebate Amount
“Also, the Chairman‘s Mark would limit total rebate liability on an individual single source or innovator multiple source drug to 100 percent of AMP for that drug product.” (page 69)

Making healthcare more affordable by giving big pharma a 30% increase in profits is delusional! It’s time to start calling Harry Reid and asking, “Who do you think you’re fooling”? We know that the pharmaceutical lobby had a big hand in writing the bill. Why else would they spend $150 million dollars to promote it?

Harry Reid… working hard for Big Pharma!

Our Country Deserves Better PAC launches new anti Reid campaign

January 11th, 2010

Our Country Deserves Better PAC, (the TEA Party Express people) were in Reno this morning to launch new TV ads to counter those being run by the SEIU and other Reid support groups asking us to call and thank Harry for all he is doing for Nevada.  Harry’s problem is that we know what he is doing to Nevada!

WRPAC Chairman, Dustin Stockton, attended the press conference and will attend a similar one in Las Vegas tomorrow. We will have video of the press conference within the next few days.

“The purpose of this campaign,” explained Joe Wierzbicki, organizer of the Tea Party Express, “is to make it abundantly clear that it is time for Reid to go. His statements and actions over the past few months show that power has gone to his head, and he feels nothing but disdain for those he is charged to serve and represent,” Wierzbicki said.

“We’re throwing the weight of the Tea Party Express movement into the campaign to defeat Reid,” Wierzbicki said.

Nevada welcomes you to our fight!

NV US Senate Candidate Profile: Danny Tarkanian

December 4th, 2009

danny-tarkanianDanny Tarkanian candidate website: http://www.tark2010.org

Candidate report card:

Commitment to the constitution: A
Danny Tarkanian  strongly supports 2nd Amendment rights and returning government control to the States. He believes that the role of government should be limited and that the protection of civil liberties guaranteed in the Constitution must be maintained.
Fiscal Responsibility: A
According to Tarkanian’s platform statements he believes that we cannot continue down the current economic road Harry Reid is taking our Country. “At $1.3 trillion and climbing, our current annual federal budget deficit should be proof to Senator Reid that “You cannot borrow your way out of debt, and you cannot spend your way to prosperity.” We simply cannot continue to allow our federal government to borrow, spend and bailout entire industries at the expense of future generations of Nevadans”.

Electability: B+
In 2004, Tarkanian ran unsuccessfully for the state Senate and again in 2006 lost in a race for Nevada Secretary of State. Given this, he will need to convince Nevada voters that he can win against an established professional politician like Harry Reid. He began his campaign early and has been traveling the State connecting with Nevadans. He will have to retain a high energy level and work tirelessly to gain traction against the more established candidates. If he has learned from his previous losses, he stands a chance of winning the Republican primary election where he will face the most nasty campaign in Nevada history.

Personal History: A-
Because he has never held elected office, we do not have a voting record to make a judgment on Tarkanian’s ability to achieve political victories. His life has been one of great achievement leading us to give him good marks based on his personal accomplishments.

Positions: A-
From Danny Tarkanian’s website http://www.tark2010.org

  • Health care reform should be about increasing choice and reducing costs – not increasing government control over our health care decisions. That is why I strongly oppose Senator Reid’s health care plan.
  • I believe that government can have a role in our economic recovery but it needs to limited and effective.
  • Create jobs and revive the American Dream. More than ever, we need to let Nevadans keep more of their hard earned money by keeping their tax burdens low and reducing their energy costs through alternative energy sources. We also need to keep higher education affordable for Nevadans and make sure we are preparing our workforce for 21st century jobs in a global economy.
  • I believe that every child deserves a quality education that includes a scholarship to go to a private school if the public school system is failing.
  • I appreciate the value of using America’s “soft power” to defend our interests around the world, but we cannot base our entire foreign policy around being loved abroad.
  • I believe life begins at conception and that we have a responsibility as human beings to protect that life if at all possible.
  • The Second Amendment guarantees citizens the fundamental right to bear arms.
  • The best way to honor those who come here legally is to enforce our immigration laws even if that means a physical barrier or electronic fence at our border.
  • I firmly oppose card check. An employee’s decision to support or oppose unionization should be made with a private-ballot.

Overall: A-
Danny Tarkanian has attracted a good deal of support based on his stance on issues. While he currently beats Reid in polling data, he has not been subjected to negative campaigning against him. We believe that he is a strong candidate but the rest will be up to the voters.

NV US Senate Candidate Profile: Mark Amodei

December 3rd, 2009

mark-amodei

Mark Amodei candidate website: www.Amodei4Nevada.com

Candidate report card:

Commitment to the constitution: A
Mark Amodei from all we have seen supports the Constitution and the foundation our Nation was built upon. He is a strong 2nd Amendment supporter and supports limited Federal government by returning power to the States. He has been an advocate of personal liberty leaving us comfortable with giving him high marks in this category.

Fiscal Responsibility: B+
Giving Mark Amodei a high mark on fiscal responsibility is likely to confound and anger some Conservatives. He does not have a record as a “NO TAX” politician. His record does show that he does not support new spending without a means to pay for it, something that is becoming rare among our elected officials. During the 2009 Legislative session Amodei voted against the $781 million dollar tax increase and spoke out against using one-time stimulus money to fund new programs that would eventually have to be paid for by Nevada taxpayers. In 2003, however, he voted for the largest tax increase in Nevada history. His rational for the vote came from the many programs already approved and signed by a RINO governor creating a necessity to pay for massive increases in educational and social spending.

Electability: A
Amodei has held public office since 1996 as a State Legislator and State Senator. He is a proven campaigner and understands the process. He may struggle from his vote to raise taxes during the 2003 Legislative session and some Conservatives hold him and other Republicans accountable for not forcing deep enough cuts in State spending during the last session. A recent poll by the Nevada Policy Research Institute shows Amodei leading other candidates as their preference to replace Harry Reid.

Personal History: A-
Mark Amodei has proven that he can win elections. He is a persuasive debater and understands the political process. A native Nevadan, he has been a proponent of Nevada industry and the president of the Nevada Mining Association. His ability and willingness to develop consensus and compromise on political issues is both his strength and weakness. We believe that our current political situation demands representatives that are willing to fight using every tactic at their disposal to stop the runaway spending and erosion of civil liberties our current Congress and Administration is bent on seeing through to the destruction of America.

Positions: A-

From Mark Amodei’s website www.Amodei4Nevada.com
“You deserve a U.S. Senator whose first loyalty is to you and not his political party and friends”

• We need action that will grow jobs and put people back to work;
• We need energy independence, not an energy tax;
• We need tort reform and other real health care reforms and not government control with more spending and taxes;
• We need to protect our right to work.
• Government needs to be fiscally responsible –– Americans can spend their hard-earned money more wisely than bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.;
• That our country has been the greatest force for freedom and democracy in history.
• We have kept our freedoms through the daily sacrifice, strength and commitment of our men and women in uniform, and with your support as citizens.

Overall: A-
We are giving Mark Amodei room to improve as we see more specific platform information. He has a proven track record that can both help and hurt his campaign. We will be looking for more specifics as the campaign progresses.
