Who’s to blame? We are.

June 25th, 2010

Modern politics has turned into a game of blaming someone else for the woes facing our nation. For those of us on the Right, it is easy to blame Barrack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, the main stream media and a host of other elected officials for everything that is wrong with the direction America is headed. The comments we receive each time we post an article regarding legislation being pushed through Congress make it clear that most people consider these individuals solely responsible for taking our country in the wrong direction.

I believe the time has come to own up to the fact that each of shares in the responsibility for what is going on in Capital even though many of us understand that these actions by our elected officials are destroying America. Simply put, the takeover of America happened while we were asleep at the wheel. The individuals controlling government did not seize power in a military coup. They were elected by a majority of the voters and these same voters are responsible for keeping them in power election after election.

The last four generations of those of us living in the United States have had a relatively easy life. Even those living in poverty have not had to worry about starvation or basic needs as government has created safety nets with public housing, welfare and other assistance programs. The middle class in this country grew rapidly following the end of the Great Depression allowing a majority of citizens to enjoy a fairly good style of life. We may not be rich but we have been “comfortable”. It is this comfort that led us into the collective complacency responsible for our current situation.

More Americans can name of the actors in leading roles of their favorite sitcom than can tell you the name of their US Congressman or Senator. They can recite the starting lineup of their favorite basketball team long before they can name one of the Justices on the US Supreme Court. This fact is well understood by the leaders of the Progressive movement who have used our civic laziness to further their plans to steal power through a slow and steady erosion of the liberties established in our Constitution.

You may be thinking, “I never voted for these people, how am I to blame”? To put it bluntly, we are to blame because we did not do enough to educate those around us of the dangers of what has been happening. The agenda of the Left is never what it appears to be on the surface. Their real agenda is wrapped with a compassionate sounding titles supported by short talking points to make it appear that legislation will help some disadvantaged class.

The title of the recent health care takeover bill passed by Congress and signed into law by the President best illustrates the strategy of the Progressives. The ‘‘Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010’’ sounds like a noble cause to provide affordable health care to all Americans. Just prior to passing, a smiling Nancy Pelosi stood before America to tell us that “we were going to love it but we have to pass it before you can read it”. Sadly, not a single Member of Congress read the bill before voting to pass it into legislation. Now that is law, we see clearly that rather than improve our system of health care, this bill is nothing more than a handout to mega insurance companies and turns nearly total control regarding our health care decisions over to a government bureaucracy.

If these people are allowed to remain in office, we will continue to shoulder the blame for what happens next. We must educate ourselves on the issues and look beyond the cute little wrappings of an agenda that will continue to destroy the foundation upon which America was built. The social norm of not talking politics with our family and friends must be rescinded to help take the blinders off those not paying attention, exposing the facts behind the fluff.

More and more of us are waking up to need of what WE have to do. The tea party movement has brought together people of all political ideologies who see that the America we knew may be lost if we do not act. This must be just the start. Voting alone is no longer an option leaving each of us a decision to make. Am I going to get involved in the process or simply allow my country to disappear before my eyes?

As English Statesman, Edward Burke said over two hundred years ago: “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” The choice is yours whether to continue with your seemingly comfortable life or join the rising chorus of voices demanding accountability from our elected officials. I pray you will choose the latter.

Time is running short before the America we love is steered into the rocks of Socialism. Action can take many forms depending on your personal situation but action is what is needed, not words. Volunteer to help elect the candidates you feel best represent your core beliefs. Unfortunately, the war of modern politics cannot be won without proper funding. Small donations from many donors add up quickly and will allow candidates and organizations to fight against the well funded political machine that is fueling the demise of our Nation. Give only what you can but it is critical that you give. The cost of doing nothing is far worse than anything you can imagine.

Together we can win this fight so long as we do not allow ourselves to feel helpless against the rising tide of political corruption. It is my sincere pledge to keep sounding the alarm putting my heart, soul and resources into saving the United States of America. We owe this to our children and grandchildren and for me, I will accept nothing different. What is your commitment?

What we stand for.

September 28th, 2009

The Western Representation PAC was formed to advocate fiscal sanity from our elected officials and oppose government expansion into private enterprise. These two intertwined issues are based in a fundamental principle that while government serves numerous critical functions, it is makes the least effective use of American wealth in regard to economic growth.

It is unacceptable for government to continue taking a larger and larger portion of our personal wealth to sustain itself . Runaway spending and the resulting higher taxation that must come, creates a dangerous imbalance between private business expansion versus government expansion during a shrinking economy.

We sympathize with the difficult task faced by lawmakers forced to make budget reductions. Program cuts and budget trimming is often emotional, affecting government agencies and employees who have become accustomed to budget increases during our country’s boom years. Most American families are having to make these cuts every day, deciding what can be left out as we balance our budgets. Living responsibly during tough times makes an important and positive impact on our lives. It is time we demand that our government make the same sacrifices.

While the topics discussed on this blog will cover a wide variety of subjects ranging from foreign policy to football, the focus of our political activity remain narrow. We will advocate for candidates and legislation against government expansion and deficit spending. We will advocate for policies that use our tax dollars effectively and for the good of the country as a whole.

It is your support that will make the difference. We are at a critical crossroad in our nation’s history as we decide if we are going to be a “People of the Government” or return to a “Government of the People”. With your help, we can move this nation in the direction our Founding Fathers envisioned.
